Before there was the Maya Community Foundation, there was the Maya Cinemas Education Fund. Before the Maya Cinemas Education Fund, there was Maya Cinemas - your favorite local movie theater.
Part of the Maya Cinemas mission is to operate in underserved, family oriented, Latino-dominant communities. Not only do these same communities lack first run film entertainment options but they lack the resources fundamental to development and growth. The Maya Cinemas Education Fund was established to provide scholarships to students in diverse communities. Knowledge is power and we want to empower our communities. In this notion of empowerment, the Maya Community Foundation was born.
The Maya Community Foundation will continue to provide scholarships to students in the community and will broaden it's efforts to support causes related to education, health, & youth.
